Job summary

KIPP Nashville is seeking an School Nurse to support student health across the Nashville school community, reporting to the Director of Student Health. The nurse will handle daily medications, health screenings, and coordinate with principals and operations to keep students safe and healthy.

Responsibilities include maintaining health documentation, advising on health initiatives, and ensuring adherence to COVID protocols.

Qualifications

• Current non-restricted TN Licensure as a Registered Nurse is required.
• B.S.N. is preferred.
• 2 years or more in nursing; Pediatric experience preferred.
• Current BLS, First Aid, and AED certification.
• Licensed or eligible for RN licensure in Tennessee.

Responsibilities

• Removes health-related barriers to learning and supports student health needs.
• Provides well-student care, first aid, immunizations, and assistance to students.
• Manages daily medications and administers doctor-prescribed meds.
• Advises Operations and school staff on health initiatives and processes.
• Builds emergency preparedness plans and trains staff on health emergencies.
• Communicates with families about student wellness and health concerns.
• Participates in health events outside regular school days when needed.
• Performs screenings (scoliosis, vision, hearing, height/weight) and makes referrals.
• Maintains and updates student health records and documents.
• Ensures 100% collection of incoming student health documentation.
• Keeps physical health files organized and up-to-date.
• Audits student health files annually.
• Transfers health information during campus transfers.
• Maintains confidentiality of health information.
• Collaborates to create wellness programming for students.
• Maintains COVID health protocols and accountability.
