Job summary

Sargent Rehabilitation Center Inc in Warwick, Rhode Island seeks a licensed RN to join its school health team. The nurse will evaluate students, administer medications, and participate in health care planning in accordance with policy and physician orders.

Qualifications

• RI RN license and school nurse certification (preferred).
• Licensed to practice in RI; minimum one year experience in a school or nurse setting.
• Must understand student privacy and health information rights.
• Ability to transfer students needing physical assistance and assist in evacuations.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate students’ needs by nursing assessment.
• Develop, implement and evaluate health care plan annually.
• Provide treatments including administration of medications and injections.
• Administer epinephrine auto-injector per standing order.
• Consult with physician and staff regarding medical needs.
• Assess patient condition and report changes to physician and team.
• Administer first aid and emergency health services as needed.
• Obtain physician orders and parent authorization for medications.
• Coordinate with PCP and family on self-administration at off-campus events.
• Maintain medication records and tracking.
• Schedule vision screenings and share results with parents.
• Ensure documentation for health exams, lead and dental screenings.
• Maintain school health records and immunization information.
• List exemptions from immunization as required.
• Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings.
