Job summary

Onward Education in Lake County, Illinois is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) for an in-person role within a school district. You will support students and staff with health needs, medication administration, and care coordination.

The schedule is 37.5 hours per week, 8am to 4pm, with dates 8/17/2026 to 6/3/2027. This on-site position supports student health, injuries/illness, chronic conditions, and collaboration with families and school teams to keep students safe and learning.

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Illinois.
• PEL required (Professional Educator License).
• School-based nursing experience is a plus, but not required if you have strong pediatric/community nursing fundamentals.

Responsibilities

• Assess and respond to student illnesses, injuries, and health concerns during the school day
• Administer medications and support students with chronic conditions (e.g., asthma, diabetes, seizure plans)
• Create and maintain student health plans and health documentation as needed
• Communicate with families, providers, and school staff to coordinate care and support attendance
• Serve as a health resource for staff and help promote a safe school environment
