Job summary

Onward Education is seeking a full-time, in-person School Nurse to support a medically fragile student in Fairfield County, CT for the 2026-2027 school year. The role starts ASAP and ends on 12/23/2026, with a potential extension.

The nurse will provide 1:1 health support, accompany the student to and from school, monitor activity tolerance, assist with mobility, and cover clinic or classroom duties as directed. Active CNA or LPN license is required; pediatric experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Active CNA or LPN license required.
• Ability to provide consistent 1:1 support in a school setting.
• Experience with wheelchair support and close monitoring is preferred.
• Willingness and ability to ride the bus with the student to and from school.
• Pediatric experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 health support for a medically fragile student across the school day.
• Accompany the student during transportation to and from school.
• Track the student's tolerance for activity and respond promptly to signs of fatigue.
• Support safe mobility by assisting with transitions between a walker and a wheelchair.
• Assist with coverage in the school clinic, medically fragile classroom, or other settings per supervisor direction when the student is absent or leaves early.
