Job summary

Community Health Network seeks a School Medical Assistant to help safeguard student health and well-being at Edgewood Intermediate School in Indianapolis. The MA will care for students with chronic health issues and assist with basic health services during the school day.

The role supports health education, medication management, and emotional support, referring to higher care when needed, to minimize health barriers to learning.

Qualifications

• Graduate/certificate of completion from a recognized medical assisting program OR a High School Diploma/GED + one year of medical assistant experience in a physician practice within the past three years.
• Medical Assistant certification required within 6 months of hire.
• Two years or more of medical assistant experience required.
• Two years of experience working with pediatric patients required.

Responsibilities

• Provide health services to facilitate optimal physical, mental, emotional and social growth and development for students within the schools.
• Support health education, medication management, emotional support and referral to higher levels of care based on student needs.
• Support the education process by working to assure the health of the students.
• Promote health habits and overall health to strengthen maximum learning.
