Job summary

Marple Newtown School District is seeking a part-time Food Service Cook to assist in the production, setup and serving of meals for staff and activities, following safety and sanitation regulations. This is a part‑time position and does not include benefits.

You will prepare nutritious meals for students and staff, operate basic kitchen equipment, monitor food quality and temperatures, and maintain clean, organized work areas in a fast-paced school kitchen.

Qualifications

Knowledge and skills in large quantity food handling, preparation and cooking.
Ability to read, to write, and to comprehend simple instructions.
Knowledge and/or ability to learn “Point of Sale” system required.
Dependability, punctuality, and initiative are essential.
High School diploma with training in culinary arts a plus.

Responsibilities

Sets up and prepares equipment in accordance with established production menus.
Sets up and prepares food products in accordance with established menu.
Cooks/prepares menu items as required.
Ensures high standard of service and food quality: serve students/staff appetizing food in adequate portions.
Monitors all hot foods for quality of taste, texture and appearance; tests new recipes.
Maintains and reports daily production records.
