Cedar Rapids Community School District is hiring a Food Service Cashier at Jefferson High School. The role runs 9:30am–1:30pm, 4.0 hours per day, for a 9-month school-year schedule with summers off and no nights or weekends.

You’ll manage the cashiering system, collect payments, and align with nutrition standards in a cafeteria setting. The job requires basic computer skills, knowledge of a 10-key calculator, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of school food service program, nutritional standards, and sanitation.
• Develop and maintain effective relationships to foster teamwork.
• Process strong communication skills and customer service.
• Basic computer skills and familiarity with a 10-key calculator.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Operate the computerized cashiering system during breakfast and lunch, verifying a reimbursable meal was served.
• Collect money and maintain customer accounts on the computer.
• Prepare a bank deposit and send the daily worksheet to the Food and Nutrition office.
• Work flexible hours and assist with food preparation, handling, and clean-up as assigned.
• Maintain open communication with staff and customers and attend trainings as requested.
• Arrive on time and follow department procedures; perform other duties as assigned.
