  • Maintain confidentiality of student information and ethics.
  • Participate in in-service training programs as assigned.
  • Alert regular teachers to problems or special information about students.
  • May assist staff and students with educational computer programs.
  • Manage textbook check out and in each year.
  • Assess fines and distribute late notices as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as required by supervisor.

POSITION OVERVIEW

This position is primarily responsible for fulfilling the day to day activities required of the library by performing the following duties, personally.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Specific tasks, responsibilities or competencies may be documented in the incumbent’s performance objectives as outlined by the incumbent’s immediate supervisor or manager.



  • The Library Aide will maintain the library and all materials that are checked out to students and teachers on the campus.

  • Hosts elementary school classes weekly to allow students to check out library books.

  • Maintains the library catalog for the assigned campus.

  • Hosts book fairs each year. This includes organizing volunteers and teachers during this time.

  • Assists teachers with finding books that could be used in the classrooms.

  • Assists with verifying new curriculum has been received and cataloged as appropriate.

  • Maintains the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of fully licensed teachers.

  • Participates in in-service training programs as assigned.

  • Alerts the regular teacher to any problem or special information about an individual student.

  • May assist staff and students in use of educational computer programs.

  • Manages textbook check out and in each year.

  • Assesses fines and distributes late notices as needed.

  • Performs other related duties as required by supervisor.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

Education, Licensure, or Certification High School Diploma/GED required. Must possess strong communication and organizational skills. Must demonstrate initiative and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

BACKGROUND CHECKS

The incumbent in this position will be required to pass a criminal history background check Arizona Department of Public Safety Level One IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card Must be able to obtain and hold a valid IVP Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card at all times.
