Job summary

Legacy Traditional Schools is seeking a General Education Teacher to influence student achievement through direct instruction and a back-to-basics curriculum (Spalding and enVision Math). The role involves teaching, collaborating with staff, and supporting student growth across programs including music and arts integration.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's degree with a Valid SEI Endorsement or ability to obtain one, and must pass a criminal history background check.

Qualifications

  • The incumbent in this position will be required to pass a criminal history background check.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct instruction using an accelerated, back-to-basics curriculum with SEI and Math instruction.
  • Deliver instruction and manage classroom to support student learning and growth.
  • Identify, select, and modify instructional resources to meet diverse student needs.
  • Maintain accurate records and communicate with parents and colleagues regularly.
  • Collaborate with peers to enhance the instructional environment.
  • Meet professional obligations such as deadlines, schedules and meetings.

As a General Education Teacher, you will have the opportunity to change lives through education as you motivate students to achieve academic excellence.

You will provide direct instruction using an accelerated, back-to-basics curriculum including Spalding (reading & writing) and enVision Math as you: ange lives through education as you help students develop and refine skills learned in elementary general music and expand their talents into band, orchestra, choir, musical theater, music exploration, piano and guitar programs.

And you will do meaningful work that makes a difference for our students as you:

  • Provide direct instruction using an accelerated, back-to-basics curriculum including Spalding (reading & writing) and enVision Math.
  • Help students develop and refine skills learned in elementary general music and expand their talents into band, orchestra, choir, musical theater, music exploration, piano and guitar programs.
  • Implement instructional activities that contribute to a climate where students are actively engaged in meaningful learning experiences.
  • Identify, select, and modify instructional resources to meet the needs of the students with varying backgrounds, learning styles, and special needs.
  • Utilize direct instruction techniques to guide our students through a variety of activities designed to promote the social, physical and intellectual growth that is needed for primary school success.
  • Assist in assessing changing curricular needs and offers plans for improvement.
  • Maintain effective and efficient record keeping procedures.
  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with students, parents, and other professionals on a regular basis.
  • Collaborate with peers to enhance the instructional environment.
  • Model professional and ethical standards when dealing with students, parents, peers, and community.
  • Ensure that student growth and achievement is continuous and appropriate for age group, subject area, and/or program classification.
  • Participate in training and staff meetings.
  • Meet professional obligations such as meeting deadlines, honoring schedules and coordinating meetings as needed.
  • Evaluate each student's learning capabilities and celebrate student accomplishments.
  • Encourage students to uphold our values and model mature behavior and good character in the classroom, on the school campus, and throughout their lives.
  • Be active in the role when light lifting, sitting, standing, moving throughout the campus and traveling to other campuses as required.
  • Participate in events outside of normal hours.
  • Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS THAT SET YOU UP FOR SUCCESS
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Valid SEI Endorsement/Certification or ability to obtain.
  • The incumbent in this position will be required to pass a criminal history background check.

  • A current teaching certificate from within the state position is located.
PHYSICAL AND TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS / WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Travel between campuses is required from time to time.
  • This position requires the need to lift objects (up to 25 pounds) on occasion.
  • This position may require sitting for long periods at times, talking on the phone, standing, kneeling, stooping and long periods of concentration.
  • Local and in-state travel required.
