Job summary

McBride Elementary in Saint Helens, Oregon, is seeking a Cook Manager to join the Nutrition Services team. This full-time position is 0.72 FTE, equating to 5.75 hours per day, coordinating meal preparation and service to meet mandated nutrition requirements.

You will plan, supervise and participate in daily food production, ensure compliance with health codes, supervise kitchen staff, and collaborate with district staff to support student and staff dining needs.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 18 years of age or older.
• Criminal Justice Background Check.
• Dressed and groomed appropriately.
• Indoor work with some outdoor supervision.
• Travel between sites with own mileage reimbursement.
• May require First Aid/CPR.
• May translate/interpret.
• Occasional other duties as required.

Responsibilities

• Communicates effectively in writing and orally.
• Follow instructions.
• Knowledge of food preparation methods, health codes and sanitation.
• Plan and supervise preparation and serving of food per menu.
• Estimate food quantities to meet meal requirements and minimize waste.
• Maintain records compliant with laws and regulations.
• Direct food service workers, substitutes and volunteers to maximize efficiency and safety.
• Inspect deliveries for quantity and specifications.
• Inventory food, commodities and supplies.
• Oversee daily cleaning of kitchen, serving and storage areas.
• Maintain proper food temperature requirements.
• Assist students, staff and public with information about menu items.
• Demonstrate confidentiality with student and staff information.
• Follow safety rules to provide a safe work environment.
