Job summary

School Food Service Management Company in Reading, PA is seeking a Chef/Manager for a full-time, day-shift role. The position runs Monday through Friday with 8-hour days, no weekends or holidays, and occasional evenings for school board catering events.

Candidates should have restaurant-style cooking experience and be able to obtain documentation to work in schools; ServSafe certification is preferred and familiarity with NSLP guidelines will be helpful.

Qualifications

• K-12 school food service experience is a plus.
• Must be familiar with high volume catering.
• Must be able to obtain the proper documentation to work in schools.
• Must have proven cooking experience.
• ServSafe Certificate is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Overseeing the function of the kitchen area.
• Creating menu ideas, while adhering to all NSLP guidelines.
• Preparing for catering events.
• Be sure all safety and cleanliness guidelines are being practiced at all times.
• See that personal protective equipment is being used at all times.
• Food ordering and inventory.
• Must be proficient in various computer software (Google Docs, Microsoft, etc.).
• Staffing needs.
