Job summary

The Georgia Department of Education is hiring a Food Service Worker for the Georgia School for the Deaf in Cave Spring, GA. This role is responsible for the preparation, cooking, serving and distribution of meals to students, staff and visitors, while operating and maintaining kitchen equipment in accordance with safety standards.

Lead daily food service operations, supervise staff, and maintain records for food production and inventory.

Qualifications

ASL communication preferred.
Experience in a school, residential, or educational setting is preferred.
Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.

Responsibilities

Prepare, cook, serve, and distribute meals and food items in accordance with established menus and nutritional guidelines.
Operate, clean, and maintain specialized food service equipment safely and effectively.
Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and health regulations.
Perform routine cleaning and sanitation of kitchen facilities, dining areas, equipment, and food preparation areas.
Monitor food quality, portion control, and presentation standards.
Assist with inventory control, food storage, and receiving deliveries.
Provide guidance and support to assigned food service staff and serve as a lead worker during daily operations.
Maintain accurate records related to food production, sanitation, and inventory as required.
