Job summary

Madison County Schools District Wide in Richmond, Kentucky is seeking a substitute cook to prepare, cook and bake a variety of foods in a large-scale school food service operation. The role requires the ability to lead and coordinate other staff and to maintain a clean, safe kitchen environment.

You will assist in inventory, training and record-keeping, ensuring compliance with nutrition and sanitation guidelines while supporting meal service for students.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience in quantity baking, cooking, salad preparation, and food service facility maintenance in a commercial, institutional or school food service facility.
• Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade, supplemented by training or coursework in nutrition, and in safety and sanitation procedures, or related areas.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook and bake a variety of foods and baked goods for large quantities.
• Review recipes and menus, estimate ingredients and time needed for cooking and baking.
• Taste foods to ensure proper seasoning and maintain sanitary kitchen practices.
• May lead and coordinate the work of other food service personnel and maintain records.
