Job summary

Chartwells K12 in Norwich, CT is hiring a full-time CHEF for the Norwich Free Academy location. The schedule runs from 6:30 am to 3:00 pm, with days varying. Prior culinary and kitchen experience is required; the pay rate is $22.00 per hour and online applications are accepted only.

The role directs, coordinates and evaluates assigned kitchen staff and food production to ensure quality, sanitation and timely service in a school dining environment.

Responsibilities

• Supervises and participates in preparing, cooking and serving food.
• Manages hourly kitchen staff: interviewing, scheduling, payroll and training.
• Prepares high-quality items from recipes to meet schedules and service needs.
• Ensures proper presentation, food quality, portion control and serving temperatures.
• Monitors food use, waste and inventory; orders supplies as needed.
• Inspects incoming products for quality and quantity; maintains sanitation.
