Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; must complete Whitsons and government-required training as necessary.
• Minimum 1 year of professional culinary or food service experience; school nutrition or institutional food service preferred.
• ServSafe certification required or must be obtained within a defined timeframe; local food safety certification required in any jurisdiction of employment.
• Must be proficient in recipe procedures and cooking techniques; ability to speak/read English to understand and perform tasks, follow recipes, and safety requirements.
• Positive and professional image; able to work effectively in a fast-paced kitchen as part of a food service team; interest in school nutrition and student health.

Responsibilities

• Cook and prepare a variety of meals according to school menus.
• Ensure all food is safely cooked and presented with care.
• Maintain a clean and organized kitchen workspace.
