Job summary

Capitol Region Education Council is seeking a kitchen assistant to support daily breakfast and lunch service at the UHMS School food service site. Responsibilities include meal prep, serving, and basic cashiering, with some supervision of students as needed.

The role requires a high school diploma and prior food service experience; ServSafe certification is desirable. Expect routine kitchen cleaning and equipment operation as part of the duties.

Qualifications

• High school diploma and previous food service experience required.
• Food Protection Certification Program (ServSafe) or Certified Food Protection Manager desirable.
• NutriKids system a plus, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Assists in the preparation of lunches, breakfasts, adult meals, catering activities and a la carte items.
• Operates kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
• Assists in serving meals to students and adults.
• Instructs and interacts with other food service workers.
• Cleans the kitchen and related areas and equipment.
• Provides catering-type service to school and community groups as required.
• Maintains production and service records.
• Provides cashiering services on a student or adult line as needed.
• May supervise students in the feeding area.
• Performs additional duties as directed by the supervisor.
