Job summary

Belle Ryan Elementary is seeking a Kitchen Assistant (Part-Time) to support the Nutrition Services team. The role involves assisting with food preparation, serving, and maintaining kitchen cleanliness while ensuring high standards of safety and customer service.

Starting immediately, the position runs during school sessions (August–May) for 4.5 hours per day, 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., with travel to other OPS sites as needed. A high school diploma and basic math skills are required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic using money, weight, volume, and distance.
• Previous food service experience preferred.
• Skill in safe food handling.
• Skill in customer relations and service recovery.
• Must demonstrate excellent attendance and work record.
• Knowledge of food safety practices and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the preparation, service, and storage of food.
• Follow approved cafeteria menu preparation and service protocols within the timeline.
• Train in all kitchen stations to cross-cover as needed.
• Promote customer service by providing appealing food and great service.
• Monitor portion control, pricing, and safe storage of supplies and food.
