Job summary

Haywood County Schools ITC in Waynesville, NC seeks a Technician I to provide onsite and remote support for classrooms, labs, and offices. The role focuses on hardware and software repair, first-line troubleshooting, and user assistance.

The ideal candidate will hold a high school diploma (associate degree preferred), have experience with computers, networks, Google Suite and Microsoft Office, and possess a valid NC driver's license.

Qualifications

• High School diploma required; Associate degree preferred with 1 year tech repair exp.
• Ability to communicate effectively with all users, verbally and written.
• Ability to troubleshoot technology devices.
• Strong knowledge of computers and related technologies.
• General knowledge of LAN components.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, Windows, Google Suite.
• Ability to create guides and tutorials.

Responsibilities

• Provide phone and chat support to teachers, students, and parents.
• Maintain knowledge of computers and related devices.
• Maintains an inventory of electronics components needed to make timely repairs.
• Provide timely and effective support for Technology devices including but not limited to desktops, laptops, and printers.
• Repairs, maintains, and upgrades technology-related equipment. Reads and interprets schematics, wiring diagrams, and manuals.
• Operates standard and specialized electronics devices in testing and troubleshooting computers and other technology-related equipment.
• Uses a work-order tracking system for routine repair and maintenance of equipment.
• Provides face-to-face as well as remote assistance to users as required.
• Supports a variety of hardware and software applications and maintains confidentiality.
• Serves as team player and role model for other employees in the organization; demonstrates a commitment to continuous quality improvement; supports and exhibits organizational core values of caring, respect, integrity, responsibility, high expectations, being customer driven, and valuing diversity.
• Performs other duties and accepts responsibilities as assigned.
