Job summary

Ferris Independent School District in Ferris, TX, is seeking a Network Technician to be the single point of contact for district staff, parents, and students dealing with computer, software, and communications issues. On-site work includes installing and maintaining equipment and responding to work orders.

You will diagnose network, AV, and hardware problems on Windows, ChromeOS, and MacOS, coordinate with vendors, and provide help desk support via email, phone, or tickets.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• CompTIA A+ or industry equivalent certification (preferred).
• Broad knowledge of computer hardware and software applications.
• Basic knowledge of networking principles.
• Basic knowledge of telecommunications principles.
• Ability to troubleshoot and maintain network cabling and equipment.
• Ability to input large amounts of data accurately and in a timely manner.
• Ability to detect and resolve technology-related problems on Windows, ChromeOS, and MacOS operating systems.
• Ability to install, diagnose, and perform repairs on computers and peripherals.
• Possess strong verbal, written, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to establish and maintain harmonious working relationships, demonstrating tact, diplomacy, and patience.

Responsibilities

• Receive and resolve end-user problems related to district software and hardware.
• Communicate with software and hardware vendors to resolve issues.
• Provide professional communication with staff, parents, students, and colleagues to diagnose and resolve problems.
• Install, relocate, and upgrade computers and peripherals.
• Install network cabling and assist with troubleshooting networking equipment.
• Install, configure software as needed.
• Assign priority to and process technology-related work orders.
