Job summary

Ferris Independent School District is seeking a Technology Technician to provide single-point IT support for district staff, parents/guardians, and students. The role installs and maintains computer equipment, networks, and software, and responds to work orders to diagnose and repair tech issues.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED, with CompTIA A+ or equivalent preferred, plus strong customer service and hardware/software knowledge. On-site support across campuses is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• CompTIA A+ or industry equivalent certification preferred.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Broad knowledge of computer hardware and software applications.
• Basic knowledge of networking principles.
• Basic knowledge of telecommunications (telephony) principles.
• Ability to troubleshoot and maintain network cabling and equipment.
• Ability to input large amounts of data accurately and in a timely manner.
• Ability to detect and resolve technology-related problems on Windows, ChromeOS, and MacOS.
• Ability to install, diagnose, and perform repairs on computers and peripherals.
• Strong verbal, written, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Receive and resolve help desk tickets for staff, parents/guardians, and students.
• Install, relocate, and upgrade computers and peripherals.
• Install network cabling and troubleshoot networking equipment.
• Install and configure software as needed.
• Assign priority to and process technology-related work orders.
• Analyze help desk trends and submit reports to administration.
• Assist with organizing and distributing technology materials for classrooms.
• Diagnose and repair network connectivity and hardware issues.
• Maintain technical documentation and inventory records.
