Job summary

Lafayette County School District is seeking a Maintenance Specialist- HVAC to perform maintenance, repair, and renovation work across school facilities, including electrical fixtures, and to handle related duties as assigned.

The role requires following directions, collaborating with staff, and applying various trades. The position involves testing and servicing machinery, physical tasks, and working in a school environment with safety standards.

Qualifications

• Must be able to follow oral and written directions.
• Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with co-workers, supervisors, administrators, and the school community.
• Must be skilled in the performance of one or more trades.
• Frequent walking, standing, lifting (up to 50-75 pounds).
• Ability to tolerate inside and outside environmental conditions.
• Ability to use all units of measurements.
• Ability to communicate maintenance and/or repair problems as needed.
• Ability to troubleshoot, problem-solve, and resolve electrical issues.

Responsibilities

• Installs, repairs, and maintains machinery; performs general carpentry work; handles plumbing; maintains physical structures; performs air conditioning and electrical wiring; and installs and maintains general fixtures in school buildings in accordance with blueprints, manuals, building codes, and safety regulations, using hand tools and other equipment.
• Inspects machinery and mechanical equipment for defects.
• Work in collaboration with other maintenance, custodial, and building/grounds staff.
• Other assigned duties as assigned
