Job summary

Ccsdut Health Department seeks a Health Specialist to provide health services in a school setting, administering first aid, medications, and supporting the school nurse. You will maintain student health records, assist with screenings, communicate with families, and ensure compliance with district health procedures.

This role requires at least a high school diploma and two years of related healthcare experience; CNA/EMT/MA training is preferred, with annual district trainings.

Qualifications

• Two years of job-related healthcare experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Preferred CNA/EMT/MA training.

Responsibilities

• Administer emergency first aid to students and staff.
• Administer prescribed medications and specialized treatments under supervision.
• Assist the school nurse in collecting and maintaining required medical documentation for student Health Care Plans.
• Assist with student health screenings including vision, dental, height, and weight screenings.
• Maintain student health records including immunization data, health alerts, and treatment documentation.
• Monitor students referred to the health room and determine when further medical attention is required.
• Perform medical procedures as directed by a licensed health care professional (e.g., feeding tubes, catheterization, or other treatments).
• Maintain inventory of medications, medical supplies, and health room materials.
• Communicate with parents, school staff, and healthcare professionals regarding student health concerns.
• Perform clerical duties related to school health services including answering phones, data entry, copying, and filing.
• Report suspected child abuse or neglect to appropriate school administrators according to district policies and state law.
• Participate in meetings, workshops, and professional development related to school health services.
• Assist school staff in maintaining a safe and healthy learning environment.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
