Job summary

Orting School District is seeking a licensed practical nurse to implement health care plans, provide direct and one-on-one care for students with chronic conditions, and support health screenings and documentation at Ptarmigan Ridge Elementary School.

The role requires WA LPN licensure, CPR/First Aid, and the ability to collaborate with staff, families, and external health providers. Work hours reflect the school schedule with 7.5-hour days and bus-route duties.

Qualifications

• Education: Completion of education required for LPN licensure in WA.
• Experience: None; experience in a school setting preferred.
• Substitutions: Any combination of experience or training meeting requirements.
• Licenses: Valid WA Practical Nurse License, CPR and First Aid Certification; may require safety training; valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Implements health care plans.
• Provides direct care for students with chronic health issues and/or accommodation requirements.
• Provides one-on-one care for assigned students (tube feeding, suctioning, medication administration, catheters).
• May ride the school bus with the student(s).
• Collaborates with health care providers, parents, students, staff and outside agencies.
• Monitors students in settings such as school and buses; implements plans.
• Implements behavior management strategies; may include physical restraint.
• Administers tests under teacher supervision; assists with monitoring and scoring.
• Refers students for medical/dental treatment; reports incidents and injuries.
• Maintains health records and assists with health screenings and health room management.
