The Hawaiʻi State Department of Education is hiring a School Health Assistant I and II in Kihei, Hawaii. This position is full-time, requiring applicants to handle emergency health care for students, conduct health screenings, and maintain health records.

School Health Assistant I, SR-09: $2,356.02 per month
School Health Assistant II, SR-11: $2,549.00 per month
Basic Education Requirements: Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent, ability to read, comprehend and apply written instructions, and a high degree of verbal skill.
Experience Requirements:
School Health Assistant I: 1 general year, 1 specialized year, total 2 years.
School Health Assistant II: 1 general year, 2 specialized years, total 3 years.
General Experience: Work experience involving working with people, establishing and maintaining working relationships on a person‑to‑person basis. Experience may include observing and participating in or supervising activities for medical or therapeutic purposes; counseling, screening, or serving as an informational resource for people seeking assistance; serving as an instructor, teaching assistant, or group leader; participating in community service or outreach programs. Experience may be paid or volunteer and on a full‑time or part‑time basis but must be continuous.
Specialized Experience: Work experience demonstrating possession of basic health knowledge and practices (e.g., personal hygiene, common sanitary practices, symptoms of common illnesses) and ability to use a personal computer and/or data processing systems. Examples include homemaker experience involving child care, paid or volunteer work in a children’s day‑care center, para‑medical assistant or nurse's aide, or homecare facilities operator.
Quality of Experience: Possession of the required number of years of experience will not in itself be accepted as proof of qualification. The applicant’s overall experience must have been of such scope and level of responsibility as to conclusively demonstrate that the applicant has the ability to perform the duties of the position for which the applicant is being considered.
