Job summary

Gadsden Independent School District (NM) seeks a School Health Assistant to support the Registered Nurse in delivering health services to students and staff. You will assist with basic first aid, health screenings, and medication administration, and you will maintain health records with confidentiality.

You will work as part of a nursing team, coordinate daily activities with the RN, and participate in staff development programs.

Qualifications

• Basic first-aid knowledge and CPR/First Aid certification.
• Ability to follow GISD and DOH guidelines and maintain confidentiality.
• Ability to read and understand health information and document accurately.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Registered Nurse in providing health services for students and staff.
• Provide basic first aid and emergency care until nurse or EMS arrives.
• Assist with student health screenings (hearing, vision, height, weight).
• Assist with medication administration according to GISD policy and DOH guidelines.
• Maintain health records accurately and confidentially.
• Relate positively to students, parents, and staff; be cooperative and tactful.
• Maintain a clean, healthful environment in assigned schools; restock supplies; clean equipment.
• Coordinate daily activities with the RN and notify Nursing Administration of absences.
• Attend trainings and staff meetings; participate in staff development programs.
