Job summary

CALLAWAY ELEMENTARY in Jonesboro, GA, part of Clayton County Public Schools, is seeking a School Counselor to support academic, career, and personal/social development for students across grade levels. Qualifications

• Master's degree in School Counseling from an accredited university required.
• Previous school counseling and/or teaching experience is preferred.
• S - 5 Certificate from the Georgia Professional Certification in School Counseling required.

Responsibilities

• Establishes and promotes School Guidance and Counseling programs and implements school-based written guidance plans; assesses needs, sets goals, and formulates a plan of action and program evaluation.
• Initiates and coordinates school-wide counseling services and activities that benefit student and staff development.
• Implements and facilitates delivery of counseling services. Conducts individual and group counseling with students in areas of need (educational, career, and personal, etc.). Intervenes during crisis situations. Conducts appropriate referrals and meets with school personnel, parents, and agencies as needed.
• Coordinates with school administrators, support personnel, teachers, and parents to provide supportive instructional classroom activities that relate to student academic, career and personal needs.
• Assists with coordinating state and local standardized testing of students. Interprets test results and other student data. Assists teachers with the educational placement of students by using appropriate educational assessment strategies.
• Assists school administrators in developing allotments, class schedules etc. to meet the needs of the students.
• All other duties, as assigned and required, in order to perform the above services.
