Job summary

Muscatine Community School District is hiring a Food Service Worker I for Muscatine High School, a 9-month position aligned to the school calendar. The role supports meal service, with a 2.50 hour/day schedule from 11:00am to 1:30pm, Monday through Friday, and duties across food prep, serving, and sanitation.

Starting pay is $15.17 per hour. Bilingual is preferred or highly desirable. An interview, background check, and onboarding/training are required before starting.

Qualifications

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Extremely customer service oriented and organized.
• Must genuinely like working with and around children (PreK-12).
• Basic computer skills preferred.
• Knowledge of USDA Food Service requirements is a plus.
• Experience with SNAP computer food service systems is helpful.

Responsibilities

• Assist in setting up service areas and portioning food.
• Clean and store eating utensils and kitchen equipment; clean floors.
• Prepare foods such as washing/peeling fruits and vegetables and making sandwiches.
• Operate or assist with dish-washing machines and other kitchen equipment.
• Maintain food and supply control with proper handling, rotation and storage.
• Maintain sanitation and safety standards; interact with students, staff and community.
