Job summary

Canton Public Schools seeks an Assistant Manager Food Service for JFK Elementary School in Canton, MA. The role supports the Manager and covers daily operations in the school cafeteria.

Responsibilities include supervising staff, food preparation, cash handling, inventory, and using Mosaic POS. Requires Serve Safe, Allergen Awareness, and Choke Training, plus USDA/compliance knowledge.

Qualifications

• Experience in the school lunch program.
• Experience with a computerized point of sale system.
• Familiar with State and Federal requirements of the School Lunch Program.
• Current Serve Safe Certification or ability to obtain within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Manager in supervising other food service personnel.
• Cook menu items and assist in preparing daily production records.
• Work as a team member in food preparation, serving, kitchen cleanup and equipment cleaning.
• Operate kitchen equipment such as slicer, mixer, steamer and ovens.
• Assist in cash reconciliation and bank deposits.
• Assist in ordering, receiving and inventory of foods and supplies.
• Use Mosaic POS for transactions and cash reconciliation.
• Support catering and district events as scheduled.
• Demonstrate exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills.
