Job summary

Applitrack at Handy Middle School is seeking a Food Service Assistant to help prepare, serve, and transport nutritious meals for students in a clean, pleasant setting. You will help maintain sanitation and support daily kitchen operations to ensure smooth service.

The position starts at $15.53 per hour for 5.75 hours per day, ASAP. A valid Michigan driver's license and prior large‑scale food service experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; previous experience with large-scale cooking and food serving preferred.
• Basic knowledge of food service operations, dietary standards, and record-keeping.
• Valid Michigan Driver's License and clean driving record required.
• Compliance with applicable food service regulations and district policies.
• Ability to work in a busy school environment.

Responsibilities

• Provides, on a daily basis, the information required for the production record.
• Portioning and serving meals to students quickly and pleasantly.
• Transportation, preparation and serving of food and other materials between production site and satellite buildings.
• Maintain sanitation standards at production sites and satellite kitchens.
• Assist with daily cleaning of kitchens and equipment.
• Set up and break down service lines at assigned site.
• Build teamwork and cooperation within the department.
• Order and receive all food and supplies for satellite buildings.
• Record and maintain monthly inventory of all food and supplies.
• Report spoilage and assist in purchasing per needs.
• Work with supervisor on maintenance, repair or replacement of equipment.
• Communicate safety concerns to supervisor immediately.
• Demonstrate reliability, punctuality, honesty and self-motivation.
