Job summary

The Illinois Association of School Administrators seeks a Director of Food Service for Jacksonville School District #117. Lead, plan, and manage all aspects of the district's food service program in compliance with USDA and state regulations.

You will oversee menu development, procurement, staffing, budgets, and staff development, while coordinating with the Business Services Department for specifications, awards, and audits. Strong leadership and collaboration are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in nutrition/food service or related field; preferred.
• Current Illinois Food Protection Manager Certificate or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• SNA Certification Level 4+ or ability to achieve within 9 months.
• SNA School Nutrition Specialist Credential preferred or able to achieve within 18 months.
• Illinois Manager’s Sanitation Certificate obtained within 30 days of starting.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise the Food Service Department and personnel.
• Develop menus and perform nutritional analysis per USDA regulations.
• Procure food and supplies for the food service program.
• Ensure compliance with federal/state regulations and USDA entitlement dollars.
• Coordinate with Business Services for specs and award processes for foods and equipment.
• Oversee annual budget, strategic plan, and reporting; prepare for audits.
• Provide professional development per USDA guidelines; train staff.
• Support principals/teachers with nutrition information for classroom units.
• Manage annual federal meal applications and assist parents as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.
