Job summary

Joliet Public Schools District 86 in Joliet, IL seeks a Supervisor of Nutrition Services to lead the daily operations of the district's nutrition program serving 8,500 lunches and 3,000 breakfasts across 16 locations.

Reporting to the Director of Nutrition Services, the role oversees procurement, budgeting, menu planning, staff training, and compliance with federal and state meal programs, with a strong emphasis on cost efficiency and service quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in institutional management, food and nutrition, hotel/restaurant management, or a similarly related field is preferred.
• Minimum of two years of progressive management experience in an institutional setting.
• Experience in an institutional food service setting is desirable.
• Knowledge of quantity food production is necessary.
• Experience in computer applications is required.
• Knowledge of industry software is preferred.
• Ability to comprehend, apply, and ensure adherence to all federal and state regulations associated with the National School Lunch and Breakfast Program.
• Ability to effectively communicate and interact with all constituencies of the school district.

Responsibilities

• Efficient, cost‑effective day‑to‑day management of the food service department serving district students and staff.
• Procurement of food and supplies within the parameters of annual food and supply bids.
• Distribution of food and supplies for department operations, including consolidation and scheduling of deliveries with approved vendors.
• Monitoring vendors and auditing invoices to ensure product and cost specifications are honored.
• Supervision of the USDA Commodity Allocation Program, determining types and quantities of commodities, consolidating and delivering between operating units, and maintaining required record keeping and accounting as mandated by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
• Administration of district Nutrition Service software and menu compliance at the building level.
• Coordination and oversight of training for 80 lunchroom supervisors in 16 locations to ensure compliance with federal regulations.
• Any other duties, responsibilities, or special projects as designated by the District.
