Job summary

Webster Central School District is seeking a Food Service Cook at Thomas High School. The role involves preparing, cooking and serving hot and cold items for students, faculty, patients and staff in a school setting.

The position requires knowledge of large-scale food production, menu adherence, sanitation and safety practices, plus ability to plan and manage inventory. It may involve coordinating with a Baker in the absence of a full-time baker and working under time constraints.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or higher in Food Service Administration, Culinary Arts or closely related field.
• Six months to two years of paid full-time or part-time experience preparing and cooking food in large quantities.
• Ability to plan, assign and review the work of others.
• Knowledge of sanitation, nutrition, and safety principles in a large-scale food service setting.

Responsibilities

• Supervises staff who assist in preparing, portioning, and serving meals.
• Prepares and cooks entrees according to menu and diets.
• Participates in preparation, seasoning, and cooking of soups, broths, sauces, vegetables and desserts.
• Prepares bread, rolls, pastries in absence of a baker.
• Requisitions food and maintains inventory records.
• Keeps records such as cash receipts and inventory.
