Job summary

Derby Public Schools is seeking a Food Service Delivery/Kitchen Assistant (Level 3) for a 3 hours/day role at the Central Kitchen. The position involves delivering food and providing kitchen support, working closely with Food Service Supervisors and administration.

This part-time role pays according to the Level 3 hourly rate schedule, with pay determined by years of applicable experience. A valid driver’s license and KSDE food safety training are required within six months of hire.

Qualifications

• Desire to continue career improvement.
• Valid drivers license and CDL license as necessary for specific delivery route.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Successful completion of KSDEs food safety training requirement within the first six months of employment.
• Delivery/Kitchen Assistant working more than 20 hours per week must complete at least 6 hours of annual continuing education and Delivery/Kitchen Assistant working less than 20 hours per week must complete at least 4 hours of annual continuing education and training in order to meet USDA professional standards requirements.

Responsibilities

• Transport food and supplies among district facilities.
• Maintain assigned schedule.
• Maintain vehicle in clean condition.
• Follow district health and safety policies.
• Assist with inventory and receiving; check product quality and accuracy.
• Prepare ready-to-use food items.
• Adhere to all district policies and regulations.
• Mop spills and manage hazards in the cafeteria.
