Job summary

Maize USD 266 is seeking a Kitchen Assistant to support nutritious meals for students in a fast-paced school kitchen. The role follows a school-day schedule with no nights or weekends and a typical 3.5-hour daily shift.

You will assist with food preparation, sanitation, serving, and daily operations, while tracking inventory and ensuring HACCP compliance. Prior kitchen experience is viewed favorably and reliability is essential.

Qualifications

• Background check is required.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Food Safety Basics-State Department of Education.
• Kitchen experience recommended.

Responsibilities

• Prepare healthy and appealing food.
• Utilize sanitation standards to meet guidelines.
• Serve food to students and staff promptly and warmly.
• Assist in daily food service operations (washing dishes, scanning tickets, cleaning, organizing).
• Track inventory and communicate with the manager.
• Monitor temperatures and HACCP compliance.
• Maintain confidentiality.
• Perform deep cleaning/defrosting tasks.
• Maintain regular and punctual attendance as required.

Our Kitchen Assistants work in a fast-paced environment preparing and serving nutritious meals to students to support student learning. The Food Service department works school days only - no nights, weekends, or holidays! This position works 3.5 hours per day.

A Day In The Life

• Prepare healthy and appealing food
• Utilize sound sanitation standards to meet district, state, and federal guidelines
• Serve food so that students and staff receive their food in a timely and friendly manner
• Assist in tasks necessary for efficient functioning of the food service program (washing dishes, scanning tickets, cleaning, organizing)
• Track inventory and communicate with the manager
• Monitor temperatures of foods, dishwasher, etc ensuring HACCP compliance
• Maintain confidentiality
• Performs other duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the food service program
• Perform deep cleaning/defrosting tasks
• Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance/punctuality as required by the Board of Education policies and regulations
