Job summary

Baldwin County Board of Education seeks a Custodian to provide custodial and facilities operations support across school environments. You will help maintain clean, safe, and well‑kept classrooms, offices, and common areas, while assisting with grounds and routine repairs as needed.

The position requires physical stamina, ability to follow plans, and good interpersonal communication. A high school diploma or GED is preferred, with non-exempt, full-time status and after-hours work as needed.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated skills using standard tools, equipment, materials, methods, and practices of the maintenance trade.
• Ability to read and follow plans, directions, and layouts for maintenance projects.
• Ability to work in various environments including heights and confined spaces.

Responsibilities

• Scrubs, mops, waxes, and polishes floors according to schedules.
• Moves, sets up, re-arranges, or removes furniture as directed.
• Maintains cleanliness of restrooms, fixtures, and common areas.
• Stores, uses, and disposes of chemicals safely per procedures.
• Assists in regular inspection of buildings and grounds for safety hazards.
