Job summary

Baldwin County Board of Education is seeking a Custodian to provide cleaning and facilities maintenance for schools. The role supports a safe, clean, and well-maintained learning environment for students and staff. Training and adherence to safety procedures are essential.

The position requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, work in various environments, and follow schedules and directions from supervisors. Ten- or twelve-month terms are described with a structured salary schedule.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to meet suitability criteria under Alabama Child Protection Act.
• Demonstrated skills using standard maintenance tools and practices.
• Knowledge of cleaning methods for floors, walls, fixtures, and plumbing.
• Ability to read and follow directions and work with others.
• Ability to work in heights/ confined spaces and outdoors.

Responsibilities

• Perform custodial duties to maintain clean, safe, and attractive school environments.
• Operate and maintain cleaning equipment and routine preventive maintenance.
• Deliver supplies and arrange furniture as directed by supervisors.
• Follow safety guidelines and report hazards or needed repairs.
• Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and report needs for reordering.
