Job summary

CEDAR RAPIDS COMMUNITY SCHOOLS Cedar Rapids, Iowa Position: Preventative Maintenance Mechanic in the Cedar Rapids Community School District. Under Buildings and Grounds supervision, the role includes PM of HVAC, lighting, plumbing, and related facility systems, with responsibilities ranging from reading blueprints to maintaining safety standards.

The position requires driving, physical tasks, and shift flexibility. Salary and benefits follow the Local 199 agreement.

Qualifications

• Working knowledge of Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing (MEP) systems found in school buildings.
• Ability to read sketches, blueprints, and specification manuals from oral or written instructions.
• Valid Iowa State Driver's license with a record that's satisfactory to the District and the District's insurance carrier.

Responsibilities

• Perform Preventive Maintenance (PM) to all aspects of the physical plant equipment including HVAC, lighting, and plumbing components.
• Provide support to the Operations Department in HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical, Fabrication, and other general operational needs.
• Operate and maintain tools, equipment, and vehicles used in the trade.
• Report to work as scheduled on a regular and reliable basis with a strong attendance history.
• Other duties may be assigned.
