Job summary

Cedar Rapids Community School District is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic (Industrial Technician) at the ELSC Administration Building in Cedar Rapids, IA. The role focuses on diagnosing and repairing MEP systems, reading blueprints, and ensuring safe, reliable building operations.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED and experience with lockout/tagout, NFPA 70E, and industrial safety. Working hours vary by shift; applicants should be able to lift up to 50 lbs and perform manual

Qualifications

Diagnose and repair Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) systems in school buildings.
Demonstrate advanced troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills.
Read sketches, blueprints and specifications from oral or written instructions.
Understand safety precautions for industrial maintenance work.

Responsibilities

Perform essential maintenance tasks under supervision and independently as needed.
Diagnose issues and repair MEP systems efficiently to minimize downtime.
Adhere to safety policies including LOTO and NFPA 70E.
Communicate clearly in both oral and written forms with staff and supervisors.
Maintain records and report on work performed.
