Job summary

Marion Independent School District Transportation/Maintenance in Marion, Iowa seeks a Maintenance-General/Electrical/Plumbing technician to support the district’s facilities. The role covers 12-month scheduling, 8 hours daily, five days a week, reporting to the Director/Assistant Director of Operations.

Responsibilities include installation and repair of plumbing fixtures, doors, lighting, HVAC systems, and grounds maintenance.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Demonstrates aptitude or competence for duties as assigned
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate
• Present self in a positive image that represents a desire to achieve excellence in skills with a positive attitude
• Experience in building maintenance and repair of electrical and mechanical equipment preferred

Responsibilities

• Assist and/or perform installation and repair of district toilets, urinals, sinks, showers, drinking fountains, flush valves, faucets, and kitchen equipment.
• Assist and/or perform installation and maintenance on doors, windows, locks, lighting, electrical and other building equipment and furnishings as needed.
• Assist with preventative maintenance of district air handling units, unit ventilators, fans, air compressors, air dryers, air conditioners, coolers/freezers and other related HVAC equipment.
• Perform preventative and general maintenance on tractors, mowers, and other ground equipment as needed.
• Assist and/or perform layout of district football fields, soccer fields and activity lines and maintenance as directed by the grounds supervisor.
• Assist and/or perform lawn mowing, fertilizing, weed control, watering and reseeding of district grounds as directed by the grounds supervisor.
• Assist with snow removal and spreading of salt-sand on district-owned parking lots and playgrounds.
• Be available for an on call person in the event of an emergency and/or responding to district alarm calls.
