Job summary

The Board of Education of Charles County is seeking a Building Service Manager to oversee custodial operations, grounds maintenance and facility safety in assigned schools. The role requires supervisory experience and the ability to plan and schedule staff and tasks around after-school activities.

You will ensure clean, safe facilities, manage inventory of supplies, respond to emergencies, and coordinate with the Principal/Building Coordinator.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• One to five years supervisory experience in this or a related field.

Responsibilities

• Clean bathrooms, floors, walls, ceilings, and fixtures; replace supplies.
• Collect and transport trash in large receptacle.
• Perform seasonal outdoor tasks such as lawn care, snow/ice removal.
• Receive, unload, and relocate supplies without power equipment.
• Evaluate and train night staff; secure building at day’s end.
• Prepare work/train schedules for building service staff.
• Operate building plant equipment as required.
• Schedule activities to avoid interfering with after-school programs.
• Coordinate facility use for events (dances, meetings, etc.).
• Assist staff and students to achieve school objectives.
• Advise on repair/maintenance actions required for grounds/equipment; submit work requests.
• Keep supervisor informed of problems requiring action and follow up.
• Coordinate emergency repairs with Maintenance as directed.
• Maintain logs and records as required.
• Perform minor repairs to school equipment within available resources.
• Supervise caretaking supplies and maintain stock control.
• Coordinate daily inspections to ensure safety, sanitation and security.
