Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• 1–5 years of supervisory experience in this or a related field.
• Ability to read and write effectively.
• Good verbal communications and human relation skills.
• Basic knowledge of heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems.
• Demonstrated supervisory ability.
• Readily accessible by telephone.
• Means of transportation to respond when called.
• Willingness to work overtime as required.

Responsibilities

• Clean bathrooms, floors, walls, ceilings and fixtures in assigned areas using appropriate manual or power equipment and replace expendable supplies as required.
• Collect and transport trash in large mobile receptacle.
• Perform seasonal outdoor duties such as lawn/shrub care, sidewalk and parking lot maintenance, snow and ice removal.
• Receive, unload, locate and relocate school supplies and materials without power equipment.
• Evaluate and train night staff; secure building at the end of the day.
• Prepare work and training schedules for building service staff and evaluate performance.
• Operate all building stationery plant equipment as required.
• Schedule building service activities to avoid conflicts with after-school activities.
• Coordinate facility use for events (dances, Parks and Recreation, meetings).
• Assist staff and students in achieving the purposes of the school/facility.
• Advise on repair/maintenance actions and submit work requests.
• Keep supervisor informed of problems and follow up as needed.
• Coordinate emergency repairs with Maintenance Department as directed.
• Maintain logs and records; perform minor repairs.
• Supervise use of caretaking supplies and stock control.
• Inspect facilities and grounds daily to ensure safe operation and compliance.
