Job summary

GSF USA is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Technician to help maintain a safe, functional school environment. This hands-on role covers general maintenance, minor repairs, preventative tasks, and grounds support across the facility.

The ideal candidate is dependable, mechanically inclined, safety-conscious, and capable of working independently across a variety of maintenance tasks in Glen Ellyn, IL. Full-time hours are 6:30am–3:00pm, Monday–Friday.

Qualifications

• Strong mechanical aptitude and general problem-solving skills.
• Must be able to speak and write in English.
• Ability to identify basic maintenance needs and determine when additional support is required.
• Ability to organize and prioritize multiple work requests.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine building maintenance and minor repairs throughout the facility, including doors, locks, fixtures, furniture, walls, and other building components.
• Conduct routine facility inspections and identify maintenance, repair, or safety concerns.
• Complete assigned maintenance requests and work orders in a timely and professional manner.
• Perform basic carpentry, painting, patching, assembly, and other general handyman-type repairs as needed.
• Assist with moving furniture, equipment, room setups, and special school activities or events.
• Support general upkeep of school grounds, walkways, entrances, and exterior areas as assigned.
• Safely operate hand tools, power tools, and approved groundskeeping or outdoor equipment.
• Monitor tools, equipment, and maintenance supplies and report repair or replacement needs.
• Follow established safety procedures, school requirements, and GSF policies while performing assigned work.
• Report larger repairs, safety hazards, or maintenance concerns requiring specialized service to management.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Able to work some holidays.
• Able and willing to cover weekends when needed.
