Job summary

Dinwiddie County Public Schools in Virginia is seeking a Maintenance Technician I/II to perform basic to intermediate maintenance and repairs for school buildings and grounds. The role requires flexibility for evening shifts and reports to the Building Principal/Director of Facility Operations.

Qualifications

Completion of a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
Proven experience in janitorial or custodial roles, demonstrating proficiency in cleaning and sanitation protocols or moderate experience in building and grounds maintenance and repair; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

Open the building each morning and secure it at the end of each day, as directed by the principal.
Conducts general upkeep procedures and occasional light custodial duties.
Ensure that the building is ready for student and staff arrival daily.
Inspect the exterior of the building daily for signs of unauthorized entrance, vandalism, and trash.
Assist with minor building repairs as necessary.
Replace light bulbs and ceiling tiles as necessary.
Performs grounds maintenance tasks such as mowing grass, edging walks, pruning and trimming trees and hedges; applies chemicals and fertilizer, mulches beds, etc; assists with snow removal and ice control.
