Job summary

Fredericksburg Christian School is seeking a Maintenance Staff member to uphold campus facilities in a state of readiness. The role involves electrical, carpentry, plumbing and grounds work, with on-call duties and potential overtime.

You will respond to alarms quickly and support a variety of building operations. The position requires physical ability, a valid driver's license, and a commitment to Christian values as outlined by the school.

Qualifications

• Committed Christian with a close personal walk with the Lord and the Christian character qualities to serve as a role model for young people
• Regular in attendance at an evangelical, Protestant church
• Commitment to a Biblical lifestyle, not promoting or engaging in premarital, extramarital, transgender, or homosexual behavior
• Maintains a valid driver’s license and ability to drive a variety of school vehicles
• Frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds
• Regularly works indoors and outdoors; able to adapt to various weather and hazards

Responsibilities

• Communicates effectively with building principals to assist them in their roles
• Repairs facility deficiencies identified by work requests (restrooms, lighting, kitchens, grounds, gym, classrooms, floors, halls)
• Builds and maintains fixtures and equipment for campus personnel
• Supervises summer student workers as needed
• Assists with snow/ice or tree removal during inclement weather
• Maintains tools and equipment in working order
• Perform safety-compliant maintenance with minimal supervision
• Handle 24-hour emergency maintenance and on-call duties as assigned
• Complete grounds work such as weekly pickup and landscaping maintenance
• Schedule and assist with preventative maintenance programs; inspect facilities and systems
• Perform minor troubleshooting and electrical repairs (bulbs, ballasts, fuses)
• Identify and repair plumbing fixtures; unclog lines and drains
• Maintain inventory of tools and supplies; recommend purchases
• Perform locksmith duties; install, repair, replace doors locks
• Inspect and service doors and windows; install or replace plugs, switches, outlets
• Assist with moving loads and organizing supplies and equipment
• Wear protective equipment per OSHA guidelines
• Learn to operate data systems and handheld power tools; assist with HVAC, irrigation and lighting controls
• Provide fast response to alarms and inquiries from staff within 60 minutes
