Job summary

STEGER SCHOOL DISTRICT 194 is seeking a Maintenance Worker to perform skilled and semi-skilled tasks across district facilities, supporting safe, clean, and operational learning environments for PK-8 buildings. The role covers building systems maintenance, grounds upkeep, and responding to daily work orders.

Responsibilities include carpentry, plumbing, electrical and mechanical repairs, HVAC system inspections, safety checks, and maintaining the grounds and sidewalks.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of 2-3 years of maintenance or facilities experience.
• Valid Illinois Driver's License.
• HVAC certification, boiler license, or other trade certifications preferred.
• Pesticide applicator license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform general maintenance including carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical repairs.
• Troubleshoot and repair building systems (HVAC components, lighting, fixtures, doors).
• Conduct routine inspections of facilities and identify maintenance needs.
• Complete work orders in a timely and professional manner.
• Assist in preventative maintenance and inspect HVAC systems, boilers, and related equipment.
• Maintain school grounds including mowing, trimming, and landscaping; remove snow and ice.
• Follow district safety protocols and OSHA standards; assist with safety system checks.
