Job summary

Baltimore City Public Schools is seeking a Full-time Maintenance Worker to perform routine semi-skilled repair and maintenance tasks across school buildings and grounds. The role opens buildings, monitors HVAC equipment, and ensures safety and readiness of systems.

The position requires knowledge of multiple maintenance trades, basic electrical/plumbing repairs, and the ability to coordinate with managers and contractors. You will work with others to keep facilities operating smoothly.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Three years building operations and maintenance experience in two or more trades.
• Trade licenses/certificates may substitute for two years of education or experience.
• Knowledge of maintenance methods, tools, and equipment; safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Monitor building operation and maintenance projects.
• Perform routine preventive maintenance and emergency repairs.
• Submit emergency requisitions and coordinate repairs.
• Perform minor repairs to walls, fixtures, doors, and surfaces.
• Assist in painting, masonry, carpentering, and sheet metal work.
• Assist skilled trades personnel and contractors.
• Coordinate evening cleaning work assignments.
• Requisition supplies and maintain records.
