Job summary

State of Connecticut, Norwich Technical High School, is seeking a Building Maintenance Supervisor in Norwich, CT. The role oversees maintenance and repair operations, coordinates staff, and ensures compliance with safety and facility standards.

The successful candidate will supervise custodial and maintenance teams, read blueprints, manage work orders, and liaise with vendors while supporting a 37.5-hour work week and a first shift schedule.

Qualifications

• Six (6) years of experience in the repair and maintenance of large buildings.
• Two (2) years of supervisory experience.
• College training in architecture, mechanical or electrical engineering or a related field may be substituted for the General Experience on the basis of fifteen (15) semester hours equalling one-half year of experience to a maximum of four years for a Bachelor's degree.
• Incumbents may be required to possess and retain appropriate current licenses, permits and/or certifications.

Responsibilities

• Schedules, assigns, oversees and reviews work of staff.
• Provides staff training and assistance.
• Conducts performance evaluations.
• Determines priorities and plans building and grounds maintenance work.
• Establishes and maintains building maintenance procedures.
• Develops or makes recommendations on development of policies and standards.
• Acts as liaison with other operating units, agencies and outside officials regarding unit policies and procedures.
• Prepares reports and correspondence.
• Inspects buildings and equipment to determine repair and improvement needs.
