Job summary

Colchester School District is seeking a Maintenance Worker in Colchester, Vermont to perform routine maintenance and repair of school facilities, grounds, and equipment. The position is non-exempt and hourly, with pay rate dependent on experience.

You will assist licensed plumbers and electricians, handle painting, carpentry, drywall, and grounds tasks, operate snowplows and lawn equipment, and follow safety protocols to keep buildings safe for students and staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent plus 3–4 years of relevant maintenance experience.
• Experience in electrical, mechanical, and/or plumbing trades.
• Experience using commercial riding lawn-mowing equipment and operating snowplow.
• Valid driver's license required.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic plumbing and electrical maintenance and assist licensed trades.
• Interior and exterior painting and surface preparation.
• Carpentry repairs for doors, windows, walls, ceilings, floors.
• Install/repair plumbing fixtures and drywall.
• Grounds maintenance including mowing, pruning, snow removal, and athletic field prep.
• Operate heavy grounds equipment such as snowplow and tractor.
