Job summary

Hazel Crest School District 152 is seeking a dedicated custodian to maintain district facilities and grounds. Under supervision, you will keep school buildings in excellent condition to promote a safe and conducive learning environment.

Responsibilities include cleaning, trash removal, basic repairs, and operating alarms and lights. Requires high school diploma or GED and six months custodial experience; a valid Illinois driver’s license is a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Six months custodial experience preferred.
• Ability to read and follow cleaning chemical labels and safety data.
• Must be able to perform heavy physical labor including lifting up to 50 pounds and climbing.
• Commitment to cleaning protocols, safety, and teamwork.
• First Aid/CPR certification is a plus; valid Illinois driver's license may be required.

Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize washrooms, offices, and classrooms daily.
• Wash windows on entrance/exit doors as assigned.
• Remove trash and manage waste according to procedures.
• Move furniture and equipment as directed by supervision.
• Perform minor repairs and report major repairs promptly.
• Arm alarm system and secure doors/windows; turn off lights after shift.
• Maintain floors by waxing and buffing and manage cleaning supplies.
• Follow all safety and district policies during duties.
