Job summary

Greene County Schools seeks a dependable custodian to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming school environment. You will perform routine cleaning, waste removal, and surface disinfection across classrooms, offices, libraries, and common areas.

Responsibilities include operating floor machines, restocking supplies, and reporting maintenance issues. The role requires physical stamina and the ability to follow instructions with minimal supervision.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks including lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to follow instructions and work without close supervision.

Responsibilities

• Attend in person as required.
• Keep building and campus grounds neat and clean at all times.
• Remove trash from classrooms, bathrooms, halls, offices and take out to dumpster regularly, esp. on Fridays.
• Maintain entryways, clean glass and vacuum mats.
• Dust mop hallways and classrooms daily; use floor machines and scrapers as needed.
• Clean bathrooms, disinfect toilets/seats, stock with paper goods; mop floors.
• Dust mop gym floor; use floor machine as needed.
• Clean offices, nurses' stations, break rooms, library, water fountains, windows, other areas.
• Report issues and maintenance tickets; be a friendly face to students and staff.
• Respond to emergencies and spills; launder mops and rags; vacuum and maintain equipment.
• Keep common areas tidy; ensure safety signs are used; keep closets neat and locked.
• Assist with receiving supplies; light maintenance tasks; seasonal or as-needed duties.
• Support grounds work: mowing, trimming, blowing leaves, ice melt walkways.
• Maintain MSDS book; prepare for inspections.
